The average cost to recover from a ransomware attack is $1.85 million.
No sector is immune. Ransomware attacks hit police forces, healthcare providers, educational establishments, the oil and gas sector and governments and they can threaten an organisation’s very existence. The US Government has now elevated investigations of ransomware attacks to a similar priority as terrorism and NATO has identified cyber as the fourth vector for defence after air, sea and land.
With an increasing impact on operational technologies supporting critical infrastructure, the ransomware menace appears to be here to stay.
